Platform Technology for the Nanoparticle Based Delivery of Veterinary Vaccines.
We have recently used the Centre for Animal Science (CAAS) facility located at the Gatton campus for our Nanovaccine Delivery project.
Nanobiotechnology offers new scientific approaches and solutions in animal health utilising nanosized particles.
We have used silica nanoparticles to deliver the E2 protein from Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus (BVDV).
BVDV infection results in debilitating endemic disease that affects the cattle and sheep industries.
During a recent trial the animals were housed in the Metabolism Building which is a purpose built facility for large animal research.
Over the 7 month period of the study we have worked with several members of the CAAS team who were always professional, highly trained and helpful.
They provided the large animal handling expertise and husbandry required for the successful completion of the project.
