This decision support tool was developed by the University of Queensland, in collaboration with the Queensland Marry Darling Committee, to assist landholders to assess that habitat value of vegetation on their properties. The tool is based on many years of research and fauna surveys conducted within the Tara, Moonie, Dalby and Chinchilla regions of the Brigalow Belt. The tool uses the results of fauna surveys to predict the abundance of bird, reptile and mammal groups using properties of the landscape and vegetation. These properties include the percentage of remnant vegetation surrounding vegetation patches, the size and age of vegetation patches and the composition of vegetation patches. The predictions made by the tool are based on probabilities and the tool produces maps of the likely abundance of bird, reptile and mammal groups using these probabilities.
