Background:
Peter joined the Centre in 2002 as the inaugural community leadership fellow. His previous position as the Queensland State Education Department’s Ipswich district director of education in 2000/01 saw him working closely with the Centre in the Goodna Service Integration Project (SIP) and the first cohort of the Centre’s post graduate program, the Graduate Certificate in Social Science (Interprofessional Leadership). He subsequently lectured in the program.
He developed and presented a number of the Centre’s Collaborative short courses for groups including: the Department of Child Safety’s State-wide Child Protection Task Force; Darling Downs, Ipswich & West Moreton public sector officers; Ipswich community leaders; the Boilerhouse staff; Department of Premier and Cabinet – SEQ South and SEQ West Regional Ministerial Community Forums; and community groups.
Peter is accredited in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The indicator is part of the experiential learning approach used in the Collaborative short courses to provide participants with: Understanding of self and others, organisation development, team building, management and leadership training, and problem solving.
His previous professional experience includes senior Queensland State Education Department positions of secondary school principal, school inspector, regional director, district director, and acting appointments in the central office of the Department as director of human resources and assistant director general, schools.
Peter worked internationally in Qatar in 2007 as a leadership specialist working with school principals.
Professional Activities:
He is currently the Chairman of the Queensland Teachers' Credit Union Board.
Research Interests:
The application of experiential learning in courses and programs that enhance people’s understanding of themselves and others, organisation development, team building, management and leadership.
