Background:
 
Michael took up the position of Director of the Boilerhouse in February 2005. Michael brings with him a strong record in community based research and community engagement. Over the past 12 years he has worked extensively with the public, private and community sectors, and tertiary institutions in developing collaborative policy, planning and project responses to local issues.
 
Prior to taking up his current position Michael worked as Coordinator of the Social Research Section, Gold Coast City Council. Before this he was a lecturer at the School of Environmental and Recreation Management at the University of South Australia; a Research Officer at the Great Barrier Reef Cooperative Research Centre at James Cook University; and a technical services manager at the Australian Institute for Marine Science.
