Profile and Research Interests
Robyn recently joined the UQ and Blue Care Research Centre, as a Research Fellow and Project Officer for the Practice Nurse Project. The Practice Nurse Project will investigate the acceptability and feasibility of a Practice Nurse-Led Collaborative Care Model for the management of Chronic Illness within General Practice.
Prior to this she spent 3 years as a Research Officer and Tutor at Griffith University where she was involved in a number of research projects. These included a major project concerned with Work Life Balance which was a joint project with the University of Newcastle, NSW and was nested in the Women’s Health Australia Project. This project was concerned with dual income families with children across two generations (Generation X and Baby Boomers) and how they achieved or didn’t achieve work-life balance. Another project was a pilot study to investigate Family Leisure. This project looked at family leisure from the perspective of family members and also the perspective of policy makers in the government sector.
In the 10 years prior to this she was involved in a number of projects including: a longitudinal project, MUSP (Mater and University of Qld Study of Pregnancy); a bereavement study concerned with cancer patients wishing to die at home and the effect on their carers; a study of the emotional impact of metastatic breast disease on women and their families; and two smaller studies relating to hip and knee recovery and community living elders project. Also over the past 6 years she has been a tutor in various courses including Health and Illness, Research Methods and Sociology of Leisure.
