Profile and Research Interests
 
Dr John Rosenberg joined the University of Queensland / Blue Care Research and Practice Development Centre in June 2007 as a Research Fellow and Project Manager.  
 
In February 2009, John was appointed as a Lecturer – Teaching and Research in the UQ School of Nursing and Midwifery. He now divides his time between his teaching responsibilities at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital UQ SONM Clinical School and his research role at the UQ/BC RPDC.
 
John is a registered nurse who has worked primarily in community palliative care and as an educator and researcher in the care of people at the end of life. His scholarly interests lie in social perspectives of death and dying, including the engagement of palliative care organisations with the wider community in the support of people during dying, death and bereavement.
 
John is the current Chair of Palliative Care Nurses Australia Inc., a national peak body whose vision is to promote excellence in palliative care nursing for the community through leadership, representation, and professional support. John is a co-author of the Framework of Competency Standards for Specialist Palliative Care Nursing Practice and remains involved in the promotion of the framework through the work of PCNA. For a copy of the competency standards and for more information about Palliative Care Nurses Australia go to www.pcna.org.au.
