Profile and Research Interests
 
Associate Professor Deborah Parker is Acting Director of the UQ/Blue Care Research and Practice Development Centre, a joint centre of the School of Nursing at the University of Queensland and Blue Care, and the Director of the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Community Care (ACEBCC), a collaborating centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Deborah is also currently the recipient of an NHMRC Palliative Care Research Fellowship where she is developing an outcome measure for a palliative approach for people dying in residential aged care facilities. Deborah has attracted approximately $3 million in research funding primarily in aged care and palliative care, in particular in the residential aged care setting. This includes a recent grant of $1,393,918 under the Encouraging Best Practice in Residential Aged Care for the project - Implementation of a comprehensive evidence based palliative approach in Residential Aged Care (CEBPARAC).
 
Deborah is the author of 26 peer reviewed publications, 20 research reports and has presented at 32 national and international conferences. She is co-author of Clinical Practice Guidelines and Care Pathways for People with Dementia Living in the Community and the Guidelines for a Palliative Approach in Residential Aged Care which are NHMRC Endorsed. Deborah is a member of Palliative Care Queensland, the Queensland Palliative Care Research Group, Palliative Care Nurses Australia and the Australian Association for Gerontology.
