Primary School Visits
The Antiquities Museum offers a stimulating program aimed at primary school students, including a tour of the museum, where students make use of an informative and fun worksheet in order to interact with the artefacts on display. A workshop program is also included in which students are able to handle and look at artefacts from the museum in a controlled environment, based around a number of themes and sites from the ancient world. Tours last one hour and hands-on workshops a further hour. All of our tour and workshop programs have been created with the SOSE curriculum in mind, focusing on the use and interpretation of evidence, critical evaluation skills and themes of time, continuity and change. All workshops have a strong participatory element.
Workshop Themes
Four seperate workshops are available which have been tailored to cover a variety of topics in the ancient world, focusing on the use of artefacts to construct the stories of people in the past. Workshops can be selected from the following list:
- Ancient Egypt: The Valley of the Kings
- Ancient Rome: A Romano-British Farm
- Ancient Greece: Olympia
- Museums and Artefacts
