In 2015, the Museum acquired a rare and significant Roman medical collection, including a medicine-box decorated with the figure of Asclepius and a full set of Roman medical instruments including probes, scalpels, forceps, and a rare bone-lever.

The acquisition of this world-class medical collection was made possible through a generous donation in memory of Dr Owen Powell OAM and the Museum is please to present the collection for permanent display in 2016.

Curated by James Donaldson and Dr Janette McWilliam
