The Mercy Heritage Centre, Brisbane, houses an impressive collection of Roman Catholic Relics, including the remains of a 2nd-3rd century AD Roman male. Associated with this material are fragments of Roman glass and plaster, suggesting a possible origin in the many catacombs surrounding Rome. Almost nothing is known of this Saint's identity but ongoing research hopes to shed light on this enigmatic relic of early Christianity, housed for over 140 years in the heart of Brisbane. A collaboration between the Mercy Heritage Centre and the R.D. Milns Antiquities Museum, UQ.
The talk will be followed by refreshments in UQ’s historic Great Court from 3pm.
RSVP’s are essential by Friday 6th May, 2011 to the Antiquities Museum Office – (07) 3365 3010 or antiquitiesmuseum@uq.edu.au
