Professor Ross Barnard’s research encompasses infectious disease diagnostics, and development of new platform technologies for detection of infectious agents.

These technologies include multiplex assays for flaviviridae, influenza A, and HSV, cloning and expression of influenza neuraminidase for in-vitro drug lead screening, and the development of a new real-time PCR technology.

Prof. Barnard is also interested in antibody engineering for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, in particular the use of shark single domain antibodies for antigen identification and targeting.
