Professor Robert Capon’s research group focuses on the detection, isolation, characterisation, identification, and evaluation of novel bioactive metabolites from Australian marine and terrestrial plants, animals, and microbes.

These natural products span all known biosynthetic structure classes and represent valuable new leads in the search for new anti-infective therapeutic drugs.

Prof. Capon is also interested in synthetic organic chemistry, microbial metabolism, and chemical ecology.
