Dr. Ben Schulz’s research focuses on the mechanisms and biological roles of glycosylation. Glycosylation is the most abundant and complex post-translational modification of proteins and is essential for protein folding, fine-tuning protein enzymatic activity, and determining protein-protein interactions. Dr. Schulz is interested in glycosylation in pathogenic bacteria, specifically Neisseria and Haemophilus, to better understand the role of bacterial protein glycosylation in infection to develop diagnostics, therapies, and vaccines. Dr. Schulz is an ARC Fellow.
