Professor Alexander Khromykh is the Deputy-Director of the Australian Infectious Diseases Research Centre.
Prof. Khromykh’s research focuses on the West Nile Virus (WNV), specifically the molecular mechanisms of replication, virus assembly, and virus-host interactions.
WNV belongs to the flaviviruses, a group of highly pathogenic positive-strand RNA virus that affects more than 50 million people per year.
Prof. Khromykh aims to better understand how WNV replicate in the host to develop flavivirus vaccine candidates and replicon-based vectors for vaccines.
