School studentsThe School of Agriculture and Food Sciences is passionate about educating the next generation. Our School offers a number of events, competitions
and activities each year for school groups, individual prospective students
and teachers.

The School of Agriculture and Food Sciences delivers knowledge, skills and
research in the areas of agricultural business; animal science; environmental science; food, nutrition and technology; and plant and soil science that help investigate solutions to unrelenting world issues, such as climate change, feeding a growing population, diminishing natural resources, biosecurity and the protection of endangered wildlife.

UQ opens its doors year-round to schools, individuals, families along with small and large groups of visitors. Our School can arrange a staff member to visit your school, or for the University experience, schools can visit us on campus. Our Open Days are another opportunity to view UQ and the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences.

To assist teachers we offer workshops or careers talks to high school students both on and off campus. Workshops and talks can be tailored to the syllabus and your specific needs, and are specifically designed for the high school audience. Free online resources for secondary schools are available, including this online resource page provided by UQL Cyberschool.

The School of Agriculture and Food Sciences offers a suite of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) courses to give practical support to secondary school teachers.  The School is well qualified to offer comprehensive and high quality short courses reflecting the breadth and diversity of its programs.

Publications and printed materials are available including career and science posters. Download career posters from the Primary Industry Centre for Science Educations. Other publications available are current university prospectuses, and publications that assist with general day to day university life, like living on campus and Life at UQ.
