Maria Vasas' legacy is applied for the following purposes. One or more scholarships for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Equine Science (Honours) program is offered to enable the students to take up honours years studies in Equine Science. Secondly the Equine Science group's research broodmare herd at Gatton campus is maintained. The herd is essential to equine research and the teaching programs for equine science and veterinary science students, allowing students to obtain exemplary hands-on experience with horses at all life-stages.

The Maria Vasas Foundation Equine Science Honours Scholarship is one of many scholarships that are offered by the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences.
