Born and raised on central Queensland cattle stations, Ben Woodhouse’s childhood dream was to be a veterinary surgeon.
Instead his dream turned to agribusiness and he now heads dairy product wholesaler and manufacturing business Maxum Foods and sister company Performance Probiotics.
The businesses supply dairy products to domestic and international clientele in the food ingredient, human health, nutrition and animal nutrition industries.
The Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness) graduate’s business won a BRW Fastest Growing Company in Australia award in 2006 and was a NAB Agribusiness of the Year award finalist in 2007.
“I have always been involved in, and passionate about agribusiness, working in the grain, stock feed, cotton and dairy industries,” he says.
“In 2003, I founded Maxum Foods with Dustin Boughton in Brisbane, where I have lived since 1999.”
Ben says his UQ degree helped him develop key skills in managing a business in the agricultural industry.
“The program helped me develop organisational skills, time management, planning and core business skills,” he says.
“The UQ agribusiness degree is held in very high regard across the Australian agribusiness industry, which assisted me in gaining work with Riverina Stockfeeds immediately after graduating.”
Ben says starting his own business was his biggest adventure and a dream come true.
Please note: The Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness) is now the Bachelor of Agribusiness.
