BArch (Hons) Qld

Researcher

Catherine graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1995 (a component of which included completion of an Arts major in Anthropology). She has worked professionally on architectural projects within Australia and overseas, having gained over four years experience with practices both in London and Brisbane. While living in London, Catherine was engaged on numerous heritage conservation schemes. Her experience in Brisbane includes time with Cox Richardson Taylor & Partners (now Cox Rayner), where she was a team member on urban renewal and convention centre projects, and with Rhonan O'Brien Architects & Designers, where she was involved on projects ranging from single- and multi- residential to educational and conference facilities. As an extension of her work in the architectural profession, she worked for three years as a part-time design tutor at the QUT School of Architecture.

Catherine has been engaged in a number of capacities by the AERC: as a Senior Research Assistant involved in a number of cultural heritage, land/native title claim and site recording projects, and as a Project Officer assisting in the management of the NIFVGP Mentoring and Evaluation Scheme (refer 'What We Do - Projects'). She has co-authored a series of research papers on the unique problem of Indigenous homelessness (refer to 'What We Do – Projects') in Australian cities and co-edited the TAKE 2 monograph on housing design in Indigenous Australia with Dr Memmott. She has also provided consulting services to the Cultural Heritage Branch of the Queensland Government’s Environmental Protection Agency.
