All advertising for The University of Queensland is created and placed through the Advertising Office of the Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC). This is to ensure consistency in the promotion of the UQ brand and cost effectiveness in advertising expenditure.
UQ is a member of the Qld Government Media Buying Group and can therefore take advantage of discounted rates on most national newspapers. To utilise these government discounts all bookings must be made by the Advertising Office via the Master Media Suppliers - Blaze or Mediacom. All media costs are charged ex GST and attract a rebate (in addition to the discounted rates) from the Master Media Supplier.
A 6% Advertising Levy (as of 1 July 2012) is charged to the requesting unit for the setting, booking and despatch of advertisements.
