Clinical Trials

ACCMER's catchment area, south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales, has a population of approximately 2.5 million. This provides ready access to appropriate numbers of study participants over a wide range of conditions.

The Centre's clinical trial capabilities are multidisciplinary, combining medical, scientific, nursing and administrative expertise.

The Brisbane and Lismore nodes of ACCMER have established expertise in all aspects of clinical trials and ACCMER is rapidly developing a reputation for its skill and innovation in conducting clinical trials of complementary medicines with short lead times and at internationally competitive rates. ACCMER caters for all aspects of clinical trials, from commencement to completion. These include:

  • Standardised and simplified legal agreements
  • Protocol development
  • Ethics committee submissions and approvals
  • Case record form (CRF) book creation and printing
  • Subject recruitment
  • Medical specialist and general practitioner involvement
  • Provision of all laboratory tests including safety monitoring in terms of renal, hepatic and    hemopoietic assessment
  • Medical photography
  • Randomisation schedules
  • Statistical analyses
  • Interim and final reports

Clients provide clinical trial monitors. However, ACCMER can assist with a list of leading Australian monitors should this be requested. Trial protocols are developed in close collaboration with relevant medical specialists who are intimately involved in all aspects relating to the health of study subjects, from initial screening to study completion.
