A contribution towards Ageing Research through a Bequest in your Will
Thanks to the baby boomer generation, Australia is now in an era when older people form a significant part of the population. Australian Bureau of Statistics population projections estimate that by the year 2051, the Australian population aged over 65 years will double to between 26 and 28% of the population.
The largest population growth is in the 85 years and over age group, which is expected to more than double from the current level of 1.5% to between 6% and 8%.
This shows that research into issues that relate to older people is more important than ever.
You may decide that ageing research is a worthwhile area to support with a bequest. The Australasian Centre on Ageing at The University of Queensland would welcome your consideration of a bequest in your Will, and would appreciate being advised.
Your legal advisor may find the following wording a helpful guide.
"I give (my estate) or (portion/the residue of my estate) or (the sum of $______) to the University of Queensland for research by the Australasian Centre on Ageing. I declare that the receipt of the University Secretary and Registrar shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees."
If you would like to make a bequest to this Centre or specific research area within the Australasian Centre on Ageing, please email aca@uq.edu.au or call (7) 3346 9084 to gain assistance.
Your bequest will make a difference to the quality of life of older Australians by helping the Australasian Centre on Ageing to meet its mission of enhancing the lives of older people through quality research, education and policy analysis.
