In May of each year, The University of Queensland celebrates Diversity Week.

Diversity week aims to:

  • Celebrate the diversity of the University community;
  • Increase awareness and understanding of issues such as Indigenous Australian history and culture, disability, cultural and linguistic diversity, sexuality, religious diversity, gender identity, family and carer responsibilities;
  • Encourage and support activities that work to eliminate discrimination and harassment;
  • Provide opportunities for individuals, and areas within the University, to gain publicity about the positive contribution they are making to diversity, both on campus and through their global connections;
  • Support organisational units in improving the work and study environment for all staff and students; and
  • Recognise and reward those who have made an outstanding contribution to equity and diversity at UQ.
