The Office of Protocol within the Division of External Relations is responsible for overseeing visits by Regal, Vice-Regal, Federal and State Ministers, members of the Diplomatic corps and foreign government dignitaries. The Protocol Office also manages visits by other VIPs such as Presidents of international educational and research institutions who call upon the Vice-Chancellor.

Key areas of responsibility for the team include:

  • Organising events and visits attended by Regal, Vice-Regal, Federal and State Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and foreign government dignitaries, Presidents of other universities and other VIPs;
  • Managing functions and events such as campus, building and centre openings, graduations, honorary and other award ceremonies;
  • Managing public events associated with Research Week and Teaching and Learning.
  • Managing high profile events as directed by the Vice-Chancellor;
  • Providing advice on University protocol matters and event management to University staff and the wider community;
  • Providing advice on community relations activities;
  • Providing support for overseas convocations and associated business and government meetings in countires visited; and
  • Overseeing the University's public lecture program.
