The Computer Museum traces the development of computers and their associated peripherals from the early 1960s, when a General Electric Model GE225 was installed as the first digital computer at the University and in Queensland.

Fryer Memorial Library
UQ Library
The Fryer Memorial Library is the Special Collections Department of the University of Queensland Library. From modest beginnings in 1923, Fryer Library has grown into an outstanding collection of Australian literature and history. Extensive bookstock and runs of periodicals complement an internationally-recognised collection of literary and historical manuscripts and records. These are used regularly by interstate and international scholars.

Insect Collection

The University of Queensland Insect Collection (UQIC) consists of more than 1,000,000 specimens of insects and related arthropods and contains material from all Australian states and territories and a limited amount of foreign material.

Map Collection
UQ Library
The Dorothy Hill Physical Sciences and Engineering Library holds the University's main map collection of about 32,000 sheets. These represent world-wide coverage of topography and earth sciences, plus thematic maps such as soils, land use and vegetation. The map collection attempts basic world coverage but emphasises Australia and the Pacific region.

Microorganisms Collection
School of Molecular & Microbial Sciences
The Australian Collection of Microorganisms (ACM) is a microbial resource of national and international significance developed over 30 years of teaching and research, particularly in systematic and applied bacteriology. The ACM contains the most diverse collection of bacteria in Australia as well as collections of yeasts, filamentous fungi, plant and bacterial viruses. The Collection is recognised as a unique source of Australian and international microbial biodiversity, conserved to maintain genetic stability.
