Biography

Professor Grigg was appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) in 2000. Previously he was The University of Queensland Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) 1997-99; Dean of Business, Queensland University of Technology 1995-97; and Head, Graduate School of Management (GSM), University of Queensland 1992-94.

His earlier career included academic appointments in the GSM and the University's Civil Engineering Department, and a term as visiting research associate at the University of Pennsylvania. He has also worked in the policy departments of two State Governments and as a management consultant to more than 40 public and private sector clients, advising on strategic planning, business strategy, public policy and financial, pricing and investment-related issues. His professional research interests focus on public utilities and public infrastructure policy, planning and management.

He has been a director of both private sector companies as well as public sector business unit boards.

He is currently a director of:

• Co-operative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism Pty Ltd and its wholly owned subsidiary, Sustainable Tourism Holdings Pty Ltd;
• The Queensland Education and Training International Board; and
• Carisgold Pty Ltd.

He is also:

• a member of the Board of Governors of Sohar University, Sultanate of Oman;
• Chair of the Go8 DVC/PVC (International) Committee
• Executive Committee Member and Past Chair of the Australian Vice Chancellors' Committee DVC/PVC (International) Committee.
