In 2006,

  • 963 staff identified that they were born in a country other than Australia - 87 countries were identified. In 2004 and 2005, 795 and 932 staff identified as having been born overseas (respectively). In 2006, the highest number (other than Australia) were born in England, UK, New Zealand, China, Germany, USA, Canada, South Africa and India;
  • 35.36% (over one third) of all students were born outside of Australia (MIS data).

Language Spoken at Home

  • In 2006 and 2005, 251 and 237 staff spoke a language other than English as home (respectively). 47 different languages were identified, with the most common (other than English) being German, Chinese, Mandarin, Spanish, Cantonese, Japanese, Russian and Vietnamese.
  • In 2006, 21.25% (over one fifth) of all students speak a language other than English at home (MIS data).
