In 2000, Sean Ulm and Jill Reid of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at the University of Queensland published an "Index of Dates from Archaeological Sites in Queensland" in the journal Queensland Archaeological Research.
You can download this publication either here or here.
The volume presents an indexed compilation of chronometric determinations obtained from archaeological sites in the state of Queensland (including Torres Strait), Australia, to the end of 2000. The list includes conventional radiocarbon (14C), accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), thermoluminescence (TL) and optically-stimulated luminescence (OSL) determinations. In total, 849 dates are listed from 258 sites.
The Index has three primary aims. The first is to provide a comprehensive listing of chronometric determinations obtained from archaeological sites in Queensland, including sample provenance and sample activity data where available.
Secondly it aims to present basic information about chronometrically-dated sites in Queensland, including site location and basic site characteristics.
The third aim is to provide a list of references for each of the dated sites which covers excavation, laboratory analysis, dating and interpretation. This last component forms a type of citation index and provides a structured entry-point to the literature concerning individual sites or sites in a particular region.
This list is necessarily a work-in-progress. Inevitably there will be errors and omissions in this compilation. A version of all the data presented in the Index will be available from this site in the near future and further hard copy editions will be issued. Any corrections or additions to this list would be appreciated and should be directed to Sean Ulm.
Since publication of the Index in Queensland Archaeological Research in late 2000 several dates have been published that were unavailable for inclusion in the printed volume. These additional dates are available by downloading the files below. Note that each successive version (note version numbers) includes previous additional dates. The date information is included in spreadsheet format: the first file is in Microsoft Excel (.xls) format and the second is the same file saved as a Text (Tab Delimited) (.txt) file. The additional references to accompany the spreadsheet are included in the separate Rich Text Format (.rtf) file below. This Index upgrade should be cited as:
