Dr Katelyn Barney

Project Manager / Managing Editor, The Australian Journal of Indigenous Education

 

Katelyn Barney (PhD Qld, BMus Hons Qld, BA Qld, A.Mus. A) is Project Manager and Researcher in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit. She is co-leader of the Australian Indigenous Australian Studies Learning and Teaching Network and Managing Editor of The Australian Journal of Indigenous Education. Her PhD focused on the performance practices of Indigenous Australian women who perform in contemporary music contexts. Her major research interests include collaborative research with Indigenous Australian women performers, teaching and learning approaches in Indigenous Australian studies, and facilitating support for Indigenous Australian postgraduate students. She has published across these areas and a full list of publications can be found here. Kate is also a representative on the International Council for Traditional Music Australia/New Zealand Regional Committee.
