Professor Martin Nakata (Editor)
Martin Nakata (BEd Hons, PhD JCU) is the Director of Nura Gili at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He also holds the title of Chair of the Australian Indigenous Education. Prof Nakata is the first Torres Strait Islander to receive a PhD in Australia. His mother is an Indigenous person from the Torres Strait Islands, and his dad was born in Kushimoto-cho, Japan. His current research work focuses on higher education curriculum areas, the academic preparation of Indigenous students, and Indigenous knowledge and library services. He has presented eighteen (18) plenary and keynote addresses at national, as well as, international conferences in ten (10) countries, and published various pieces on Indigenous Australians and education in various academic journals and books in Australia and abroad. His book, Disciplining the Savages-Savaging the Disciplines, was published in 2007 by Aboriginal Studies Press.

Associate Professor Elizabeth Mackinlay (Editor)
Liz Mackinlay (BMus Hons, PhD Adelaide, PhD Qld) is a Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Queensland. Liz completed her PhD in Ethnomusicology in 1998 and a PhD in Education in 2003. Liz is currently undertaking research and has published widely on a diverse range of topics including Aboriginal women's music, performance pedagogy, critical race theory and discourse, autoethnographic approaches, music and mothering, music education and gifted education. Liz is currently the co-editor of the Music Education Research and Innovation (MERI) and editor of The Australian Journal of Indigenous Education (AJIE).

Dr Katelyn Barney (Managing Editor)
Katelyn Barney (PhD Qld, BMus Hons Qld, BA Qld, A.Mus. A) is Research Fellow in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at the University of Queensland. Her PhD focused on the performance practices of Indigenous Australian women who perform in contemporary music contexts. Her major research interests include collaborative research with Indigenous Australian women performers, teaching and learning in Indigenous studies, and facilitating support for Indigenous Australian postgraduate students.
